Just like every year since 2017, on 24 February 2022 we got together to hold the VI Meeting of the Regional Evaluation Platform -  an opportunity for learning, networking, and creating a better world through evaluation.

This year´s edition was summoned by the Ministry of National Planning and Economic Policy of Costa Rica (Mideplan), the German Institute for Development Evaluation (DEval), the Latin American and the Caribbean Monitoring, Evaluation and Systematization Network (ReLAC), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the International Development Evaluation Association (IDEAS), and the Focelac+ Project, with financial support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

As was the case with last year's event, the latest restrictions arising from the Covid-19 pandemic and the difficulties concerning travelling and in-person gatherings were addressed by resorting to technology. Therefore, once again we prepared an interactive virtual session, attended by some 200 people who joined us online. We also offered simultaneous interpreting into English, since we aim to establish closer contact with other regions, communities and actors interested in evaluation.

Nine initiatives were showcased and presented their virtual stands: Curso de gestión de evaluaciones (Virtual Course on Evaluation Management), EvalFuturo, EvalParticipativa, Evaluación con participación (Evaluation with Participation), Evaluation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda, Evaluación y buen gobierno (Evaluation and Governance), Índice de capacidades nacionales en evaluación (National Evaluation Capacity Index), Ecuador’s National Evaluation Platform, and ReLAC+.

All of them expressed a clear interest in networking with other organisations and actors in the region. We are confident that they will do so and want to hear all about their new projects and success stories. That´s why, we are already looking forward to the next edition of the Regional Evaluation Platform in 2023!
