Rigorous Impact Evaluation: Evidence Generation and Take-up in German Development Cooperation

This report presents the findings of a research project on rigorous impact evaluation (RIE) in German development cooperation funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. The research project examined the status quo of RIE, relevant barriers and potential measures to increase both the initiation of RIEs and the take-up of (rigorous) evidence.

Human Rights in German Development Policy. Part 1: The Human Rights Strategy and Its Implementation

In the strategy paper ‘Human Rights in German Development Policy’, published in 2011, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) defined human rights as a guiding principle of its work. The strategy paper formulates a human rights-based approach (HRBA) for the realisation of this guiding principle. The current DEval evaluation comprehensively assesses the HRBA for the first time since it was adopted.

Supporting Gender Equality in Post-conflict Contexts

This evaluation examines the extent to which the processes of German bilateral official development cooperation are suited to the purpose of supporting gender equality in post-conflict contexts. To this end, alongside other types of data collection, case studies were conducted in Colombia, Liberia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Der Evaluierungsbericht ist Teil der modularen Evaluierung von Maßnahmen zur Anpassung an den Klimawandel. Die Evaluierung bewertet die Relevanz und Wirksamkeit von Instrumenten im Umgang mit residualen Klimarisiken. Residuale Klimarisiken sind solche Klimarisiken, die nach Risikoreduzierung durch Anpassung und Klimaschutz verbleiben.
