Our Evaluations

In cooperation with IDOS, DEval is conducting a synthesis of evidence on the relevance, effectiveness and development impact of promoting and protecting democracy in times of autocratisation.

Violent conflicts such as wars are often closely linked to state fragility. They not only endanger people’s lives, but also undermine sustainable development in the countries affected. Civil conflict transformation has become increasingly important within peacebuilding, as domestic conflicts are attracting growing attention and civil society stakeholders are widely recognised for their potential to promote non-violent, conflict-regulating approaches.

The feminist development policy of Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) aims to eliminate structural causes of inequality and promote equal participation by all people, in particular women, girls and marginalised groups. The German Institute for Development Evaluation (DEval) is evaluating the extent to which selected goals of this strategy have been achieved, and identifying what German development policy can learn from these efforts for the future.

Sustainable, deforestation-free supply chains are aimed at helping to protect global forests, preserving biodiversity and thereby safeguarding the foundations of human life. DEval evaluates the support provided by German development cooperation for deforestation-free supply chains.
