Helena Berchtold

Helena Berchtold has been working as an Evaluator at DEval since 2023. She studied history and Islamic studies at University Hamburg, specialising in Gender and civil society in the WANA region, particularly in Lebanon. One of her foci was the NGOisation of feminist movements. Before joining DEval, she was part of a Lebanese NGO’s research team, working on the effects of crises and conflicts on LGBTIQ* in the WANA region as well as the Kafala system in Lebanon. She gained practical experience in German development cooperation in the country management office of the North Africa department at GIZ.
