Publications

German development cooperation (DC) supports developing and emerging countries in adapting to climate change. DEval evaluated its success in a modular evaluation of climate change adaptation interventions. This policy brief summarises the key fndings of the evaluation and gives recommendations for a better climate policy.

This synthesis report concludes the modular DEval evaluation of interventions for climate change adaptation. The objective of this report is to assess the effectiveness and impact of the adaptation portfolio of German development cooperation (DC) and the implementation of mainstreaming adaptation as well as the promotion of transformative and conflict-sensitive adaptation interventions. In addition to an evaluation synthesis on the effectiveness and impact of interventions, the evaluation also comprises case analyses, theory-building desk studies and workshops.

This report is part of the modular DEval evaluation of interventions for climate change adaptation. The report aims to assess the effectiveness, impact and sustainability of German development cooperation adaptation interventions. The evaluation examines interventions in the agriculture, water and environmental protection sectors as well as support for Nationally Determined Contributions and National Adaptation Plans. For this purpose, DEval performed a synthesis of project evaluations, a systematic review of international studies, a geospatial impact evaluation and comparative case studies.

The Opinion Monitor for Development Policy 2022 covers two main topic areas. The first part investigates central public attitudes towards development policy. For example, it looks into general support for official development cooperation (DC), attitudes towards various motives for DC and how people assess its effectiveness. It pays particular attention to attitudes regarding democracy and promotion of democracy. The second part focuses on development engagement. This includes non-monetary engagement such as activities related to information and communication, organisation-based engagement and political participation, as well as monetary engagement such as donations to development policy organisations and sustainable consumption.
