30.05.2017 - Evaluation Week in Latin America 2017
From 5 to 9 June, numerous evaluation events are being held to mark Evaluation Week in Latin America and the Caribbean. These are being organised by actors from the public sector, civil society and the academic community in various Latin American countries. The week offers opportunities to discuss the importance of monitoring and evaluation in continuously improving policy and programmes. DEval is also represented through the FOCEVAL Evaluation Capacity Development (ECD) project. A total of 14 events are being held in Costa Rica, many involving FOCEVAL. These include events on utilising the findings of Costa Rica’s national evaluation agenda, on civil society participation in evaluation, and on the practical application of evaluation standards for Latin America and the Caribbean. Professor Jörg Faust, Director of DEval, and the Costa Rican planning minister Olga Marta Sánchez Oviedo will exchange views during a discussion on ‘Evaluation as an instrument of public administration’.
Professor Faust is also scheduled to take part in a discussion on ‘The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the challenges for evaluation’ in Mexico. FOCEVAL will also be part of Evaluation Week in Mexico, where it will be presented alongside other ECD initiatives.
