Verena Gantner joined DEval in 2019. Prior to her work here, she participated in the postgraduate training of the Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik/German Development Institute (DIE) and studied the effects of Cash-for-Work programmes in Jordan. Further, she worked as economic research consultant in the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA) in Beirut, Lebanon where she focused on multidimensional poverty measures and analysis as well as on multidimensional inequality and economic and social development in the Arab region. A big part of her work involved the analysis and management of household survey data. Verena Gantner studied Middle Eastern studies (B.A.) and Economics of the Middle East (M.Sc) in Marburg, the United Arab Emirates, and Lebanon.
