Dr Andrea Beck
Andrea Beck joined DEval as an evaluator in November 2020. Before, she completed a PhD in Sustainable Development at the Department of Urban Studies and Planning, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In her dissertation, she examined peer-learning partnerships between water operators (so-called Water Operator Partnerships) as an alternative approach for reforming public water utilities in the global South. In addition to her research experience, she gained practical insights into development cooperation as a trainee with the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and as a weltwärts volunteer in Malawi. She received her bachelor and master’s degrees from McGill University (MSc, Integrated Water Resources Management), King’s College London (MA, International Peace and Security), and the Free University of Berlin (BA, Political Science).
