Mirko Eppler joined DEval in July 2019. Prior to his work at DEval, he participated in the postgraduate training programme for development cooperation of the German Development Institute (DIE). At DIE, he conducted qualitative and quantitative field research in the context of a research project on “Digitalization in the domain of flight and migration” in Kenya. Before that, he worked for the German implementing organisation „Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit“ (GIZ) in Togo, for the Engagement Global (Department: Servicestelle: Kommunen in der Einen Welt), as well as for the Institute for Political Sciences of the University of Duisburg-Essen. In Duisburg, he worked as a tutor and gave lectures addressing the topic “Research Practice” for international students of the master programme “Development and Governance”. In the course of his master studies on “International Relations and development policy” in Duisburg and during a semester abroad at the Scienes Po Strasbourg, he developed a regional focus on sub-Saharan Africa. Lastly, he wrote his master thesis on the effectiveness of development policies of German sub-national authorities.
