Dr Nico Herforth

Nico Herforth joined DEval as evaluator in February 2016. Earlier, he obtained his PhD in international agricultural economics from Georg-August University in Goettingen (2011-2015) where he was a member of the research training group „Transformation of Global Agri-Food Systems“ (GlobalFood). In the course of his PhD, he carried out a research project to investigate the determinants and impacts of blackberry farmers’ participation in modern supply chains applying a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods in Ecuador. As a student of Geography at Aachen University and International Development Studies at Utrecht University, Dr Herforth carried out comprehensive fieldwork in developing countries for his final theses. His fieldwork experience includes Thailand, Tanzania and Ecuador.
