Dr Gerald Leppert
Dr Gerald Leppert works as a Senior Evaluator at the Competence Centre Methods of DEval since October 2015. He graduated in economics and political science (MSc Econ. / Dipl-Volksw.) and holds a PhD in the fields of Social Policy and Economic Geography (Dr. rer. Pol.) from the University of Cologne. In his PhD, he focused on Social Risk Management strategies of individuals and households in developing countries as response to risks or shocks. He worked as a researcher and lecturer at the Institute of Public Health of the University of Heidelberg and at the Department for Cooperative Studies of the University of Cologne.
He has several years of experience leading and coordinating international research projects in low- and middle-income countries. He worked on several aspects of economic development and public health, e.g. inclusive financial systems and social risk management of vulnerable populations, social policy, land use planning, community-based and self-help organizations, health system innovations and health care financing.
He has been extensively working on survey design, quantitative methods (cross-sectional, longitudinal designs and quasi-(experimental) designs, such as randomized-controlled trials (RCTs), and mixed-methods designs, but also on qualitative methods and economic experiments.
