Public Presentation of the Evaluation Report on the Emergency COVID-19 Support Programme

We would like to invite you to our upcoming online event in which we present and discuss our evaluation of the Emergency COVID-19 Support Programme of German development cooperation.

The COVID-19 pandemic had serious health and socioeconomic consequences worldwide. Whereas high-income countries managed to mitigate these consequences through government spending, many low- and middle-income countries lacked the necessary funds. In response, Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development implemented the Emergency COVID-19 Support Programme (Corona-Sofortprogramm) of 4.8 billion euros in funding to finance measures aimed at containing the pandemic and mitigating its consequences in the partner countries of German development cooperation.

DEval evaluated the relevance, coherence, effectiveness and efficiency of the programme. While the evaluation's overall assessment of the programme is positive, there are several lessons learned for future crises. In this online event key findings and recommendations for future crises of DEval’s Evaluation of the Emergency COVID-19 Support Programme will be presented and discussed. Other actors evaluated similar programs and will discuss with us their perspective on our findings.
