Evaluation – an effective path towards the achievement of the 2030 Agenda

Side event at the United Nations High-level Political Forum: The key role of evaluation for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals

The high-level political forum on sustainable development (HLPF) will be held from 6 July to 15 July. It is the core United Nations platform for follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Through real experiences and concrete country cases from Costa Rica, Finland, and Nigeria the side event “Evaluation – an effective path towards the achievement of the 2030 Agenda” will demonstrate how evaluation can play a key role in embedding the SDGs into national agendas to accelerate progress towards the 2030 Agenda.
Speakers include Doña Pilar Garrido, Minister of National Planning of Costa Rica (Mideplan) and Dr. Jörg Faust, Executive Director of Deval who will give insights into the evaluation of international development interventions in biodiversity and climate change in Costa Rica.

The event is hosted by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, UNICEF, IDEAS, EVALSDGs, IIED and DEval. It will be held in English and will be simultaneously translated into Spanish and French.
