Impact to Go – Learning, Adapting & Making an Impact

How can impact evaluations better inform development cooperation in practice? What can we learn from recent evidence – including both successes and challenges?

This online event series brings together researchers and practitioners from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the KfW Development Bank to share and discuss findings from nine impact evaluations implemented within German development cooperation projects across various sectors and across different regions.

Each session offers a unique opportunity to learn from rigorous impact evaluations (RIE) and complementary qualitative research conducted by leading researchers, hear firsthand experiences from practitioners, and engage in discussions about what the findings mean for future development work.

The events take place on Thursdays during lunchtime via MS Teams. Each session features one or two research projects presenting their findings, followed by perspectives from the implementing organizations and an interactive discussion with participants.

About the RIE Funding Programme

The impact evaluations presented in this series are part of the RIE Funding Programme, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the German Institute for Development Evaluation (DEval).

Between March 2023 and June 2026, the programme financially supported nine independent impact evaluations conducted by German universities and research institutions. The evaluations focused on assessing interventions within German Development Cooperation, covering a wide range of sectors and regions worldwide. In many cases, universities and research institutes from the respective partner countries were actively involved in the research process, fostering collaborative and locally grounded scientific inquiry.
